How Much Paperwork Goes in To A Solar Panel Install?

November 25th, 2011

www.solardave.com SolarDave: How much paperwork happens before the installation begins on a solar installation? Eric Bowman: When you think about a project from beginning to end, beyond just getting the quote and the information to the client, once the agree to the project the process has a project management component, it has a Xcel rebate component, or who ever the utility maybe and they is definitely paperwork involved for submitting for the rebates. Managing the process, ordering the product, logistically getting it sent out to the location. We also have a set of drawings that need to be completed both structural as well as the electrical and those drawings have to get submitted to the utility and in to the jurisdiction for permittings, so there is actually a lot of activities that take place we have a team of engineers and project managers and local operations people taking care of each one of these. The final installation only take about one day.

Wirsol has completed its first UK solar project, installing a 29.6 kilowatt system at Sharnbrook School in Bedfordshire. The leading German solar provider, which has recently opened a UK-based office, completed the installation in just five working days. The 29.6 kWp installation provides electricity for the school’s new building and to help control energy costs in the overall expansion of the school premises. Wirsol utilised Yingli solar panels and SMA inverter stations at Sharnbrook, which is the first in a line of projects scheduled to receive solar installations by the company, for regional colleges and schools in both the public and private sector. Peter Davies, Managing Director of Wirsol UK said, “Having opened for business here in the Kettering area only a few weeks ago, and with our clients’ residential and commercial premises already benefitting from Wirsol’s solar PV installations, it is exciting for us now to see the completion of our first – of what we plan to be very many – education sector projects. Wirsol is expanding rapidly in the UK, hiring staff at all levels, from experienced company directors to installation experts right across the UK, as we intend to become a key national solar PV player during 2011.” Kirk Sharp, Deputy Head Teacher at Sharnbrook, and the school’s project manager for the all the recent construction said, “As part of the continuing expansion of our facilities here, we had been naturally concerned by the probable big increase in our

Photovoltaic solar panel installation (in HD)

September 11th, 2011

During the week of June 21, 2010, I had a photovoltaic solar system installed at my home in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. The installation took place over two days, with the panels installed the first day and the electrical connections completed the second day. The system consists of 18 235-Watt panels, and each panel has a dedicated inverter installed under the solar panel. As you can see, the crews were fast, neat and professional. I shot this with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 digital camera and edited it using Corel VideoStudio Pro x2. Edit: The new digital electric meter was installed on July 14, 2010, so this system is now generating power and feeding the grid.
