Here are the last 14 panels installed for a total of 28 panels and 420w of solar going to the batteries. I wired the panels in strings of four panels in series, each panel is rated at 20v open circuit voltage so that is a total for 80v per string. Since I have 28 panels that is a total of seven strings in parallel. The Outback charge controller then converts it to 12v and charges the batteries with 95% efficiency which is pretty awesome. I still have room to add another 26 panels to this charge controller for a total of 800 watts.

Wood frame is now installed and I show how the hardware components are used. The first two panels are up and will add the next two panels in the evening when it is not as hot as it is right now. God bless everyone!
This is video 3 of 3 of an off-grid installation we did up in the North Georgia Mountains. The home is a passive solar house. It’s roof line is sloped and the rear is close to the ground. (This is why wildl life is able to get on the roof – namely a family of bears that live near by.) You won’t see the main house in these videos, only the roof and utility room b/c the construction of the home was in the process of being finished as we did the installation. Enjoy! Later, we will be installing a wind turbine on this same property. Once this is complete, we’ll post that video, too. If you have questions, please go to our web site and contact us through there. Adrian goes solar: Here we ask a self-described technology lover what the experience was like installing solar panels on his home. Why install home solar power? Has solar energy changed the way you consume electricity? Any advice about installing solar? How can you see if your solar panels are working? This is a real solar testimonial. www.solarcity.com
This is video 1 of 3 of an off-grid installation we did up in the North Georgia Mountains. In this video, the installation starts from the *very* beginning: from assessing parts, to installing the control panel, charge controller, inverter and batteries. Then, we install the racking and most of the panels. For the rest of the installation, be sure to see videos 2 and 3 in this series. The home is a passive solar house. Well I got four panels installed so that leaves 16 more to go. I got a great tip from FUBARPROTOCOL about a much better mounting method consisting of galvanized rails called unistrut – he shot a video of his install and it’s very good. I’m going to take the remaining lumber back to Home Depot and get those unistrut rails instead. They come in galvanized steel so will never rust and are totally maintenance free. Definitely the way to go, I’ve posted a link to his video below. God bless you all.
